Devotion, Seduction and Danger in the Book of Ruth
with Ruby Namdar
4 Tuesdays at 6:00 p.m. ET
May 6 - 27
All classes will be recorded and sent to registrants.
Ruth is a well-beloved heroine of the Hebrew Bible, a celebrated convert to Judaism and the great-grandmother of King David.
She is often remembered for her loyalty to her mother-in-law and willingness to follow her into the unknown. Less is said, however, about her feminine journey, and the way her sexuality was used to restore justice and redeem the collective.
In this new class from master teacher and award-winning novelist Ruby Namdar, students will focus on the intriguing, and somewhat problematic, way in which femininity, sexuality and seduction come into play in this classic story — and compare it to other such cases in the Bible.
