Jewish tradition teaches that our dreams are meaningful.

In the Bible, they are understood as glimpses of the future and hints at the purpose of our lives.
The Talmud teaches they are one-sixtieth of prophecy.
The kabbalists claim they are journeys into the heavenly realms where messages and insights are received.

What if we thought about our dreams the same way?

Welcome to "The Well of Dreams: Jewish Dream Wisdom Across Time." In this course, Rabbi Jill Hammer will take you on a deep exploration of Jewish wisdom about dreams.

You will learn about the Bible's understanding that dreams are prophetic, why the rabbis of the Talmud downgraded dreaming to "one-sixtieth" of prophecy, and how the medieval mystics understood dreams as nightly journeys where important messages could be received.

You'll be introduced to the dreaming women of Safed, a community of female dreamers whose visions were believed to carry vital information about the future. And you'll discover the vast literature of Jewish folk wisdom around dreaming, including rituals and prayers for dream incubation and processing of difficult dreams.

Most importantly, you'll be encouraged to cultivate your own dream practice, including resources to help remember more of your dreams, find the meaning in them by sharing them with other dreamers in community, and for bringing their wisdom into your life.
