In the Ladino Kitchen
Learn Sephardic Culture and Cuisine with Unique Recipes
3 Sundays at 6 p.m. ET
Sept. 7 - 21
Turn your kitchen into a delicious hub of Sephardic culture and learning in this unique new class from The Nosher and My Jewish Learning.
Traditional Sephardic recipes, from the Iberian peninsula to the Middle East, contain centuries of history and symbolism in every bite.
In this three-part online class, you’ll learn how to cook a few — and along the way, you’ll learn about Sephardic history, culture and even language. No Ladino language knowledge is necessary, as the course will be taught in English, but you will definitely pick up some fun Ladino proverbs and vocabulary as we go!
Some of the recipes include a “simanim” salad, packed with symbols for Rosh Hashanah, and pumpkin and apple “dulces,” or sweet treats. You’ll also learn the importance of “refranes,” or cross-cultural proverbs, and how Jews sustained themselves in difficult periods, like the Spanish Inquisition.
But there’s a lot more to learn — so join us at the kitchen table! Your purchase comes with recipes and recordings of each session that don’t expire.
Purchases of this course are non-refundable.
