The Talmud can seem like an intimidating text to explore.

We've enlisted one of our best teachers to make it understandable.

Gemara refers to the collection of written and oral scholarly commentaries that analyze Jewish laws, precepts and traditions. Gemara texts animate those Jewish laws through illuminating arguments and storytelling.

These stories and passages that have guided Jews for millennia have a unique shape, style and logic of their own — so join Rabbi Elliot Goldberg for a guided online tour through some of the most entertaining, informative and debated ones.

Whether you have read Gemara before or have never heard of the term, you'll leave class with a new understanding of the foundations of Judaism.

Class sessions are one hour long. There are no refunds for this course. By registering, you'll also begin receiving an events email each Sunday from My Jewish Learning featuring free and paid classes and events offered by our 70 Faces Media brands.
