Want to learn Ladino, the Judeo-Spanish language with a rich, centuries-old history from Europe to the Middle East?

From el kal (the synagogue) to throughout la komunita (the community), and from la kuzina (the kitchen) to throughout la kaza (the house), Sephardi Jews from Turkey, the Balkans, and Morocco have transmitted Ladino — a Jewish language closely related to Spanish — from one generation to the next for hundreds of years.

In this six-part course, taught by leading Ladino scholar Bryan Kirschen, we will build upon elementary proficiency in Ladino. Your purchase of this course comes with all of our video recordings and learning materials from Level 1 — so if you missed that class, you can catch up quickly!

Here's what we will cover in Level 2:

-Common words and phrases

-Regular and irregular verbs in the present and other tenses

-Days of the week, months of the year and Jewish holidays and celebrations — just in time for the High Holiday season

-Discussion of Ladino music, festivals and folklore

-Vocabulary that will contextualize the language through Sephardic history and culture

Throughout our six weeks together, participants will develop their listening, speaking, writing, and reading skills with the help of fun everyday topics.

There are a limited number of spots in this class, so sign up today!
